Adrenal Dysfunction

Your adrenal glands play a central role in your endocrine (hormone) system when it comes to regulating and reacting to your body’s stress levels. When your hormones are working properly, you are able to effectively manage the day-to-day stresses that you encounter.

If your adrenal glands are not working their best, it can negatively affect your entire body. Without proper regulation, you may feel more prone to mood swings when stress levels mount.

Craving salty or sweet foods is not uncommon, as is a decreased ability to cope with stressful situations. Additionally, adrenal hormone imbalance can result in feelings of low energy, low libido, increased PMS/menopausal symptoms, constipation, a weakened immune system, and not feeling fully rested after a night of sleep

Rather than exploring hormone balance, many practitioners overlook the adrenal glands. However, using a mind-body-spirit approach, our practitioners are expertly-trained to notice signs of adrenal imbalance. We may suggest a test for salivary cortisol. This test will monitor your cortisol levels over a 24-hour period. The levels can help identify if the symptoms you’re suffering are due to adrenal gland dysregulation or if they are coming from the central nervous system.
